Development Geologist Advisor

The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Development Geologist to join their technically talented multi-disciplinary team to:

  • Lead and provide input to the field development planning for assigned fields.
  • Provide inputs and design appraisal drilling and data acquisition programmes.
  • Prepare and maintain geological and geocellular models integrating geological, geophysical and petrophysical data for these fields.

Because the reservoirs under development are complex and varied this role will suit a technically talented Development Geologist with both a depth and breadth of experience gained from working internationally in a variety of basins.

The Person

The following skills, experience and qualifications are required:

  • Degree or higher in a Geoscience discipline.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience primarily in development and production geology which includes significant experience with an operating oil company is essential.
  • Broad technical experience in development geology and close interaction with petrophysicists and reservoir engineers
  • Sound understanding of static geological model building, including the collection and incorporation of rock and fluid property data, pressure data, and flow unit data, up-scaling to dynamic simulation models and model building workflows for use in field development, surveillance and management, and for calculation of reserve estimates incorporating engineering data.
  • Experience of enhanced oil recovery projects for example water, steam and chemical flood.
  • Understanding of project execution and cost implications.
  • Skilled in using relevant software tools including experience working in a 3D visualisation environment using modelling tools.
  • Effective team player and leader.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing less experienced staff
  • Commercially aware with entrepreneurial attitude
