Position Description:
A Senior Drilling Engineer role for candidates of Indian nationality.
Engineering & Design of the complete drilling well (defining drilling policy,
Well design, planning & construction, casing policy, Mud policy, cementing).
Reports to the Drilling Manager.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Well planning & well engineering
- Create planning schedules for assigned drilling programs.
- Track schedules and monitor implementation to schedule.
- Provide initial well timelines for planning purposes, drilling time
curves, and initial cost estimates & review with drilling superintendent and
drilling manager.
- Provide proper technical and commercial input to tender documents for
services and products.
- Evaluate and recommend award for tenders both technically and
commercially
- Provide detailed Scope of Work for drilling services.
- Collaborate with geology, reservoir engineering or geophysics for
clarity of well scope and objectives.
- Carry out offset well data analysis.
- Design drilling/completion and work-over programs.
- Recommend action or planning to avoiding drilling hazards and problems
- Work with various service vendors to ensure drilling plans are on
target.
- Review with engineer on OSPREY the provision of End of Well reports.
- Provide engineering support/advise to the rig on program implementation.
- Check and sign job tickets/ invoices from service contractors.
- Monitor daily cost in collaboration with Accounts and raise supplemental
AFE’s as necessary
HSE
- Identify the HSE requirement for the well.
- Ensure key HSE issues, risk assessment is included in the drilling
programme.
Qualifications/Experience:
The following skills, qualifications and experience are required:
- Degree in Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering
- 8-15 years experience
- Knowledge and experience in the application of modern drilling
technologies.
- Knowledge and experience in drilling related software
- Driven for excellence in both planning and implementation
- Strong leadership skills
- Results oriented and well organized
- Record of achievement
- Wide experience in modern drilling practices
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively
