Exploration Geologist

Position Description:

A global energy company growing value responsibly. The company are strategically positioned in some of the world's most exciting regions: the North Sea, deep-water Gulf of Mexico, Middle East, offshore West Africa and the Canadian Athabasca oil sands.

The company is seeking Exploration Geologists to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of exploration licences and identify attractive new exploration areas. The position is a challenging role in one of the exploration teams where you will use your technical capabilities and experience to help reach business objectives thereby contributing to the company’s growing reputation as a quality operator and being an effective partner in exploration licences. The position will offer you the opportunity to grow with the business and undertake a number of different tasks with a variety of cross-functional teams around the North Sea.

The following skills, qualifications and experience are required:

• A postgraduate degree in geology.

• At least 10 years experience.

• Familiar with the entire exploration cycle through regional evaluations, prospect generation, volume and risk evaluation from project inception recommendation and delineation drilling to appraisal of discoveries.

• Basin and play analysis.

• Interpretation and analysis of logs and well cores.

• Reservoir evaluation.

• Prospect generation and evaluation.

• Volume and risk evaluation.

• Progressing activity on exploration licences.

• Multi-disciplinary teamwork.

• Excellent communication skills.
