This position requires an understanding of current oil and gas operating practices to identify opportunities and ensure procedures can be prepared and executed safely and successfully. The position will be responsible for exploring new technologies to enhance production from wells that are declining. In doing so, the production engineer will work closely with reservoir engineers and those in other disciplines to determine the optimal approach for that particular field.

  • Well Testing – To identify wells that require testing and place on well testing schedule. QC well tests and ensure QCd results entered in database.

  • Well Performance Modeling - To assemble nodal analysis model for each well and update models when new well test &/or pressure (THP/BHP) data obtained.

  • Well Optimisation – To use above well performance model in addition to other well surveillance techniques to identify opportunities for improving well performance.

  • Well Proposal – To assemble proposal for improving / further understanding well performance (optimisation &/or repair).

  • Data Acquisition– To recommend data acquisition (usually non-rig down-hole eg BHP/PLT/caliper etc.) to clarify identified optimisation opportunities (eg water shut-off, leaking gas lift valve etc.) Work with Reservoir Engineers to ensure data requirements for optimum field management and value of information.

  • Non-Rig Intervention Design - To assemble non-rig intervention proposals, data acquisition, intervention design to BOD (design life and flow rates, sizing and equipment specs, materials selection and flow assurance / production chemistry) for all field proposals.

  • Non-Rig Intervention Program & Execution – To assemble non-rig intervention program, data acquisition program, daily reporting, performance tracking, and associated documentation. Manage production engineering related scope during execution of non-rig intervention.
