A Canadian oil and gas acquisition and development company with primarily focus on lower cost, high impact projects in Asia, specifically Thailand, China, India and Indonesia.

Key Accountabilities

  • Providing technical assistance & advice to Field Managers and Field Production Operators.

  • Providing Technical Assurance of work undertaken and assurance of compliance to functional standards.

  • Developing standards, guidelines and best practices in their areas of expertise to support Concept evaluations, Completion Design, Production Monitoring and Optimization and Well Reliability & Integrity activities as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

The role of the Production Engineer is to work closely with peers within teams and Management to:

  • Support Field Managers in installation and implementation of optimal production facilities

  • Recommend on well pressure test programmes, well test programmes, timetables, production optimization philosophies, reservoir pressure maintenance

  • Initiate change and champion best practice application in areas of expertise e.g. completion technology, sand control, production surveillance & optimisation & well integrity management practices.

  • Lead and/or coordinate the development and implementation of standards, guidelines and work practices associated with the Production Engineering activities to support & drive performance improvements.

Duties:

  • Technical expert.

  • Highest non-supervisory position or top individual contributor level.

  • Possesses expert knowledge in area of professional/technical discipline.

  • Leads complex studies on projects of major impact relative to Field Development and Optimization of Production.

  • Industry recognized expert in engineering field or discipline.

  • Manages oil and gas production operations to maximize profits in assigned area.

  • Develops and implements short-term and long-term strategies for wells/fields.

  • Develops completion, recompletion and workover plans for new and existing wells.

  • Provides cost and timing estimates for future workovers.

  • Reviews economic status of wells/fields.

  • Requests and reviews bids for work to be performed.

  • Selects contractor and equipment and executes the proposed work.

  • Provides recommendations that optimize completion design.

  • Provides technical support for oil and gas production operations

  • Analyzes well production records and well test information

  • Indentifies and works with Operations to execute well interventions to optimize value

  • Establishes and maintains optimum flow assurance program for wells/fields

  • Assist in preparing and monitoring capital and expense budgets

  • Interfaces with team members concerning future development plans

  • Coordinates with partners on operated and non-operated wells to determine optimal production flows

  • Provides production engineering support to other technical staff and departments as required

  • Applies specialized knowledge to complete projects of complexity.

  • Participates in industry seminars and workshops to ensure best-in-class knowledge exchange

  • Works with Production Operations to maintain required safety training and compliance

  • Company resource, consultant, mentor and coach

Qualifications/ Experience:

The following skills, qualifications and experience are required:

  • University degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline

  • A minimum of Twelve years (12) experience in upstream oil and gas production operations with minimum Five (5) years of International experience.

  • Broad background in Production Engineering particularly in onshore operations including exposure to well design, completions and production operations.

  • Previous experience in development and production projects while working for an Operator is desirable

  • In depth knowledge of flow assurance issues, and solutions in Field applications

  • Understanding of drilling, completion, workover and production of oil and gas wells

  • Detailed knowledge of production engineering core skills and project lifecycle deliverables encompassing data acquisition, conceptual well design, production operations, well surveillance, production optimization

  • Expert knowledge of Nodal analysis methods and techniques

  • Expert knowledge of Pressure Transit Analysis & Interpretation

  • Capable of taking a systems approach to the development and implementation of standards, guidelines and associated work practices.

  • Solid understanding of the technical and commercial risks associated with the development and production of hydrocarbon resources.

  • Track record of working across discipline and functional interfaces and in the management of consultants is essential.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and make decisions under time restrictions

  • Excellent interpersonal, team working and good communication and influencing skills with the ability to liaise at all levels, particularly cross functionally.

  • Good written and verbal reporting skills, Creative thinking, self starter, results oriented.
