Senior Projects Engineer

Position Description:

Senior Project Engineer role for candidates of Malaysian nationality. The incumbent shall be responsible for providing regional project management and execution support in areas which may include but not be strictly limited to cost and schedule control, government relations, permitting, HSE and quality, as directed by Project Engineering Team Leader – SE Asia.

Responsibilities: include but are not limited to:

Actively support the Company’s commitment to Environment, Health and Safety including:

  • Adopting and promoting personal work practices and procedures in accordance with the Company’s Environment, Health and Safety Management System standards;
  • Provide leadership to project teams on EHS issues;
  • Ensuring that EHS considerations are adequately taken into account in the design, construction, and installation of the facilities; and
  • Continuously communicate to contractors the Company’s expectations for EHS.

Provide leadership and direction in all aspects of engineering and project management to ensure that the regional projects are:

  • Implemented in such a manner that all internal and applicable regulatory, safety and environmental standards and requirements are satisfied;
  • Properly scoped, engineered, costed, planned, constructed, installed and closed out;
  • Key performance objectives for schedule and cost are met or bettered.

Specific activities include but are not limited to:

  • Implementing appropriate project execution and contracting strategies;
  • Directing tendering procedures and executing contracts with winning parties
  • Ensuring compliance with company and regulatory contracting processes;
  • Leading Hazop and related safety and risk management reviews;
  • Ensuring the Company’s project control requirements, including change management, are complied with and in particular, providing accurate and timely schedule and cost information for the project.

Structural Engineering Discipline Support:

  • Provide expertise and first line monitoring to ensure Contractors compliance with the agreed scopes of work in respect of the structural design, fabrication, loadout, installation of offshore facilities as required.
  • Provide recommendations, input and direction to the Contractors structural engineering design effort in order to facilitate progress and to achieve fitness for purpose.
  • Provide input to formal audit of the contractor’s procedures and processes against the requirements of the scope of work.
  • Effectively develop, train and motivate subordinate staff to enable skill transfer and development and provide specific coaching or workshop programs to allow subordinate staff personnel to be assigned senior discipline roles at the earliest opportunity.

General:

  • Establish and maintain clear and effective lines of communication between internal departments on all project matters;
  • Be a leader, mentor and role model for junior project personnel.
  • Develop and maintain the necessary professional skills required for the position.
  • Other duties as required at the direction of the Project Engineering Team Leader.

Qualifications/Experience:

The following skills, qualifications and experience are required:

  • University graduate in a related engineering discipline

  • A minimum of 10 years relevant experience of which 8 years being associated with offshore oil and gas facility design in a project engineering environment.

  • Good command of the English language and effective communicator in English.

  • Must have thorough understanding of contract development and implementation.

  • Strong interpersonal skills required

  • Self motivated, high initiative and adaptability.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Leadership of project teams.

  • Ability to lead teams and work in a multidiscipline team environment.

  • Able to set internal procedures and controls.

  • Ability to prepare input into weekly and monthly progress reports.

  • Ability to integrate with the Contractor personnel and encourage performance by example

  • Familiarity and ability to use Microsoft Office products.

  • Mobility to spend time at contractors engineering offices and visits to construction and operating sites consistent with the engineering and design responsibility.
