Subsea Controls Package Lead Engineer

Position Description:

Reporting to the Subsea Equipment Manager, you will be primarily responsible for the detailed design and delivery of the subsea control system package (Topsides and Subsea) within the subsea equipment supply contract.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide guidance to the detail design development of subsea components of the controls package

  • Prepare engineering reports, work schedules and cost estimates

  • Manage contract cost within approved budget

  • Monitor the work and track the progress of the contractors, ensuring timely issuance of deliverables against the project schedule

  • Interface with other disciplines, particularly Manifolds and Trees as well as Deepwater Installation, Drilling, and Operations teams to ensure cross-package and inter-contract compliance and consistency in installation and operation

  • Oversee and monitor vendors' manufacturing and Factory Acceptance Testing

  • Interface with Quality Assurance Coordinator and on-site inspectors

  • Oversee and monitor integration of equipment into the platform topsides by others, including short term assignment at platform fabrication yard

  • Provide input to project risk register, with responsibility for certain mitigation actions

  • Responsible for offshore pre-commissioning and commissioning support

This position will be located in one of the following locations: South East Asia or Europe depending on Tree Engineering and Manufacture location.

Business travel will be required approximately 20% of the time, therefore a valid passport is required.  

Qualifications/Experience:

The following skills, qualifications and experience are required:

  • An Engineering Degree is required

  • Professional Engineering status is required

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent experience is required

  • A minimum of 15 years proven experience working on subsea control systems, including topsides as well as underwater located components is a strict requirement for this position. With a minimum of 10 years experience on product design, manufacture and testing of Subsea Controls working for a major international manufacturer.

  • Related experience on at least 2 Major Subsea Projects from start to finish

  • Recent experience in offshore deepwater projects

  • Working knowledge of international and local codes

  • Established network of industry contacts within the subsea engineering community

  • Proven practical knowledge of current project management tools (cost management systems, scheduling, estimating, risk tools, etc.)

  • Strong commercial acumen and contract management skills with experience in a wide variety of contracting and execution strategies

  • Effective technical writing skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholder and external service providers

  • Strong team skills

  • Highly motivated, outstanding positive attitude and willingness to grow the position

  • Strong business focus with proven innovation skills
