An international oil and gas exploration company quoted on the London Stock Exchange, with a portfolio of producing assets in the UK, Indonesia, Pakistan and West Africa. The company continues to grow with focus on oil & gas exploration and commercial deal-making.

The Mechanical Engineer will be a member of the Asset Engineering Support Team, reporting to the Mechanical (rotating Equipment) Reliability Specialist.

The engineering team provides technical support for the day to day operations of the offshore assets as well as performing minor engineering modifications and scoping studies for larger capital projects. Whilst based onshore, regular visits to the offshore assets will be a requirement. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Interfacing with Production and Engineering teams in executing the asset engineering query system.

  • Supporting the Mechanical (rotating Equipment) Reliability Specialist in performing conceptual studies.

  • Promote company HSE performance requirements.

  • Undertaking mechanical failure investigations as required.

  • Monitoring performance of offshore compression equipment and liaising with offshore maintenance as required.

  • Undertake project engineering for minor plant modifications in conjunction with asset engineering support contractor.

  • Develop scopes of work and assist in the tender and award of major engineering contract and supervise detailed engineering.

  • Provide engineering support during fabrication, installation hook-up, commissioning and start up of engineering projects.

  • Ensure that new and existing facilities are designed to operate within all corporate and regulatory health, safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Mechanical Engineer will be accountable for:

  • Accountable for ensuring Mechanical Engineering scopes are carried out in accordance with project schedules and budget.

  • Monitoring condition and performance of offshore rotating equipment.

  • Providing technical solutions for field development.

  • Maintaining asset integrity in terms of process design and operability.

  • Providing engineering support documentation and analysis for each technical solution.

  • Providing sufficient supporting background for cost estimates to be developed.

  • Ensuring that development proposals are technically feasible and can be developed within the company’s safety, operability and availability requirements.

  • Provide engineering support during fabrication and offshore installation.

Qualifications/ Experience: The following qualifications, skills and experience are required:
  • Degree in mechanical engineering.
  • At least 15 years experience in E&P Oil & Gas Operations in senior engineering positions, with proven all round experience.
  • Participated in an offshore development from inception to start-up.
  • Proven experience in offshore field operations and enhancement
  • Must be a proven team player, used to working within budget and schedule, demonstrated by actual results.
  • Must have offshore design experience and be familiar with production operations.
  • Specific experience in gas compression facilities is an essential.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrate capability to follow through and meet project milestones.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
