The company has assets covering oil and gas fields in Alaska, the North Sea and North American and are now developing new fields in the deep water of the Gulf of Mexico, in Angola, in Azerbaijan, in Trinidad, and in the liquefied natural gas business in Asia Pacific, refineries and service stations. In addition, the company has strong business relationships in Russia, Egypt, Latin America, and the Middle East.

The Subsea Facilities Engineer, working within the subsea and processing discipline area will execute and support a range of projects from discrete pieces of R+D to Technical Service Work in support of business units around the world. The successful applicant may specialize in one area of subsea engineering but should have sufficient breadth of understanding to successfully work with other discipline sand execute multi-discipline projects.

The Subsea Facilities Engineer reports to the Discipline Lead for Subsea systems and processing. The position requires periodic travel to Company sites and office locations worldwide.

Key Accountabilities

  • Contribute to delivery of EPTG Performance Contract, Project Technology Unit Performance Contract, and Offshore Systems Team objectives.

  • Contribute to the Project Technology Unit R&D program. In particular to manage subsea and processing system related R&D projects within the Deepwater Technology Leadership area.

  • Provide technical service support to the SPU’s. In particular, provide technical service support in the evaluation and support of new deepwater production projects and existing deepwater facilities.

  • Finally, a personal commitment to HSSE issues is of paramount importance and the Subsea Facilities Engineer will be required to set a personal example to other members of the team and contractors in this area.

Qualifications/ Experience:

The following skills, qualifications and experience are required:

  • Candidates should have a suitable engineering degree

  • A proven track record of delivery of subsea engineering with a willingness and ability to work with other disciplines A good understanding of subsea engineering and related issues

  • A good understanding of issues relating to deep water field development

  • An ability to manage outsourced studies and external contractors

  • An ability to work on a diverse range of projects

  • Self motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • A clear track record of delivery on technical issues

  • An effective net-worker, both inside and outside of the Company

  • Good communication, to all levels in the organisation

  • An ability to define and prioritise multiple issues

  • The skills to mentor graduate programme engineers and younger members of staff

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical, Civil, Marine (or equivalents)

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience with the design of subsea equipment.

  • Experience with installation of subsea equipment.

  • Postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Chartered/registered professional engineer

  • Some offshore operational experience
