An international oil and gas exploration company
quoted on the London Stock Exchange, with a portfolio of producing assets in the
UK, Indonesia, Pakistan and West Africa. The company continues to grow with
focus on oil & gas exploration and commercial deal-making.
Responsible for maintaining the
integrity of the Company’s Telecommunication system between the Company’s office
and offshore facilities. Ensure that all the communications equipment is in a
condition fit for purpose and operated in a safe and appropriate manner. In case
of force majeure (i.e. Disaster, Earthquake, Bomb attack, Fire etc.) should be
ready to move the existing telecommunication facility to another office building
within a short notice, as directed by the management in order to keep the
company business run smoothly by doing the Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
Responsible for providing
technical support and consultancy to Production Department, Logistics
Department, Drilling Department and other related departments in managing
Telecommunication engineering, maintenance and modification activities. Organize
and manages Telecommunication maintenance, arrange for repairs and refurbishment
of telecommunication equipment, fault finds telecommunication problems and
organizes telecommunication modifications for Platform, FPSO and Company
offices. Equipment includes VSAT, PABX, Radio Link, UHF Radio, VHF Radio Marine,
VHF Radio Aviation, Microwave Radio SCADA, etc.
Main Responsibilities:
Key Objectives:
-
Carry out and conduct analysis,
studies, for reviewing and maintaining all telecommunication systems and
equipment to a level and standard to meet the company communications
requirements.

Providing technical support and
back-up to all departments in respect to their telecommunications requirements
within the company’s guidelines related to design, selection, purchase and
repair of telecommunication equipment used offshore.

To provide constant revision of
the company’s telecommunication requirements to ensure that all operational
needs are covered.

Responsible for the development
of communications equipment operating/ maintenance procedures and schedules.
-
Responsible for identifying
training requirements in regards to communications equipment for PONSBV
offshore communications technicians.
-
Arranging for contract to be
put in place for back bone telecommunication/ VSAT system between the Company
office and offshore sites and provide coordination and control of all
contractors and contracts concerned with the telecommunication system of the
company.

Participating in the
commissioning and checking of telecommunication equipment for modifications
and minor project.

Responsible for ensuring that
all budget and invoicing for the company’s telecommunications requirements are
covered as per the company’s guidelines.

Ensures that all
telecommunications activities within the company facilities are conducted and
comply with all legal and Company requirements.

Responsible to the Company and
BP MIGAS regarding telecommunication status and activities.

Performance of routine and
non-routine task and attendance of such meetings as directed by the company or
as required in order to meet Company objectives. Ensure that all relevant
managers and staff are kept informed of all major telecommunications
opportunities, developments, problems or potential problems in which could or
might impact upon the business.
Principal Accountabilities:

In conjunction with others in
the Production Operation Group, assist in failure investigation of all
telecommunication equipment.

Provide material and equipment
selection suitable for use in the hazardous area zones of the offshore
facility.

Develop standard repair
specifications and guidelines for telecommunication equipment.
-
Ensure that the technical
service standards provided by Telecommunication contractors is in compliance
with the Company’s and international oil and gas standards.

The maintenance of
telecommunication equipment including the strategies to be applied to the
different equipment types.
-
The quick and effective repairs
of defective telecommunication equipment.
Key Authorities:
-
To act as a technical authority
on telecommunication engineering matters.

To be responsible for the
technical aspect of telecommunication equipment purchases and contract.
-
To be responsible for
telecommunication competency standards and for assessing and certifying others
offshore to be competent in the telecommunication area.
Safety considerations:
-
Develop offshore installation
work instruction in accordance with HSE requirement.
-
Be familiar with the
requirements of the Facility Safety cases.
-
Ensure the management of change
procedure is used as a means of trace ability for changes affecting the
facility safety cases, in particular equipment, modifications and engineering
changes.
