Senior Geophysicist – Seismic Processing

Position Description:

Upstream Technology is seeking an experienced Geophysicist for Seismic Processing and Imaging assignments involving both the direct application of in-house technology and the supervision of contracted projects. The position will report to the Subsurface Imaging Manager. The successful applicant will interface with the operating groups, other technical support personnel and vendors to provide seismic processing solutions which meet organizational goals and commitments. Good communication skills, the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams, and a proven track record in applying and supervising seismic processing and imaging are also required. The applicant should be able to exercise independent judgment in the execution of their work and should be familiar with cost/contractual issues.

Responsibilities include:

• Lead large 3D seismic processing projects. Advise operating groups on objectives and feasibility. Plan and execute projects.

• Perform hands on velocity model building and processing.

• Provide technical oversight and direct contract personnel to achieve project goals and maintain technical quality.

• Review all contractual documents associated with seismic processing programs and provide critical direction on contractor selection.

• Collaborate individually and on teams to integrate seismic processing and imaging with other disciplines in and outside of Upstream Technology organization.

• Mentor junior personnel and aid technology transfer to operating groups through participation in team projects.

• Stay abreast of all developments in processing and imaging.

• Seek new and innovative solutions and implement and apply them as necessary.   

Qualifications/Experience:

The following skills, qualifications and experience are required:

• Major Discipline: Geophysics

• Years Experience Required: Minimum 8 years industry experience including significant knowledge of major seismic vendors, latest depth imaging technologies, time domain processing, modern noise suppression methods, innovative de-multiple techniques.

• Computer Proficiencies: UNIX/Linux operating systems. Seismic processing systems.

• Paradigm Geodepth or other state of the art depth imaging systems
