Senior Project Engineer

Position Description:

Provision of project management and engineering capability to assist the Company to achieve effective delivery of capital projects from conceptual design through to detailed design, execution and commissioning:

  • To the highest level of safety and environmental requirements;

  • To meet agreed quality, operability and cost effectiveness objectives;

  • Within agreed cost and schedule constraints.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • To provide a leadership role in front-end planning, approvals, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning handover to operations.

  • Development of concept designs and design basis documents.

  • Facilitate Environmental, Land, Legal Corporate Governance & Statutory compliance.

  • Internal & external stakeholder management.

  • Development, execution & administration of various forms of contracts. Ie/ D&C, EPC, LSTK, etc.

  • Coordinate a multidisciplinary team to ensure development goals are achieved efficiently.

  • Ensuring project costs (including contingencies) are developed, (economically) modeled, tracked, & controlled within a robust budget approval framework.

  • Establish & track key project milestones, identify schedule baselines & critical path activities to meet approved schedule commitments.

  • Technical, commercial, legal, reputation, safety, financial & environmental Risk Management.

  • Coordination of multi-disciplinary project resources.

  • Supervision of field personnel and contractors engaged in construction and commissioning activities.

  • Preparing and overseeing Quality, & HSE management plans for individual projects.

  • Act as a mentor for less experienced staff.

  • Other duties as directed by the Project Manager.

Actively support the Company’s commitment to occupational health and safety and the environment, including:

  • Demonstrating HSE leadership behaviour to ensure Personnel, Plant & the Environment are safe & free from harm.

  • Adopting standard safe work practices and procedures in accordance with the Company’s safety policies.

  • Eliminating or reporting workplace hazards, taking part in safety audits and other activities and supporting the work of safety representatives and committees.

  • Conducting activities in accordance with the Company’s environmental policies, codes and guidelines, in particular minimising energy and material usage in the workplace.

Qualifications/Experience:

The following skills, qualifications and experience are required:

  • Engineering Degree (preferably Mechanical or Civil)

  • Eligible for Corporate Membership of the Institution of Engineers, Australia

  • 5-10 years experience in oil/gas or related industry, with experience in Project Engineering and discipline engineering roles.

  • Significant experience in the development of compressor stations; piping and pipeline systems, including preparation of budgets, schedules, design basis manuals, sizing and specification of related equipment such as pressure vessels, relief and protection systems, corrosion control systems, metering and pressure control facilities, supervising construction contractors and leading commissioning teams.

  • Preferably have experience in design and construction of HDPE water pipelines, evaporation ponds, coal seam gas well head skids, HDPE gathering systems and saline water treatment facilities.

  • Strong commitment to Quality, OH&S and protection of the environment.

  • Self motivated, high level of initiative and adaptability.

  • Organisational agility, troubleshooting & problem solving.

  • High level of communication, interpersonal & leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated abilities in providing value adding engineering and technical support in an autonomous role.

  • Strong understanding of the commercial business environment & implications on project delivery.

  • Demonstrated abilities in managing the execution of contracts / projects.

  • High level of problem solving and negotiation skills.

  • Intermediate in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc).

  • Availability to travel to site (domestically) on a regular basis & to visit domestic and international vendors premises intermittently.

  • Microsoft Project / Primavera scheduling experience preferred, but not mandatory.
