Geologist - Advisor Exploration

Position Description:
This role will report to the Director of
Exploration but will have a much broader scope to enhance and develop regional
basin and prospect analysis in the Company.
A key part of the role is:

Defining best practice workflows and
coaching and developing geological staff in New Ventures and Exploration and
transferring skill sets and best practice.

To provide expert leadership in the
integration of geophysical and geological data for prospect definition,
ranking and risking.

Generation of regional tectonic and
stratigraphic interpretations from sparse and often variable quality seismic
and well data and make these available for petroleum systems analysis and
basin modeling.

To champion access to relevant
leading-edge geological exploration technologies and supervise relevant

Participate in cross team/departmental
peer review sessions as required and liaison with new business, legal,
contracts and corporate departments as necessary

Develop strong working relationships
across the geological and geophysical community in the Company
Qualifications/Experience:
The following skills, qualifications and
experience are required:
-
MSc or PhD in Geoscience
-
Proven internationally experienced
technical leader in Exploration Geoscience within Operator companies
-
15+ years of experience primarily in
seismic sequence stratigraphic interpretation across a range of
international basins and depositional systems along with broad technical
experience in regional New Venture exploration.

Ability to integrate multiple types of
geophysical and geological data to develop working petroleum system models
and use these to input into 3D basin modeling software to predict charge and
phase distribution.

Expert understanding of sedimentary basin
evolution and petroleum systems analysis, regional evaluation and regional
geological processes and workflows

Strong current workstation skills,
including working in a 3D visualisation environment using GeoFrame, GeoViz,
Paradigm, SMT Kingdom and Petrel environments. Expertise in ArcGIS and
database management is desirable.

mentoring skills.

Must be an effective team player with an
open and supportive approach.

Availability to travel extensively.
