The company has assets covering oil and gas fields in Alaska, the North Sea and North American and are now developing new fields in the deep water of the Gulf of Mexico, in Angola, in Azerbaijan, in Trinidad, and in the liquefied natural gas business in Asia Pacific, refineries and service stations. In addition, the company has strong business relationships in Russia, Egypt, Latin America, and the Middle East

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Participate in providing input to future project teams on reliability and maintainability issues, influencing and directing design to assure operational needs are met.

  • Participate in design reviews and risk assessments.

  • Identify requirements for plant modifications and improvements and manage the scoping and implementation of modifications using the Management of Change process, approved standards and procedures.

  • With the other team discipline engineers and Operations Team determine the detail and prioritization of the future Capital expenses program.

  • Ensure that up to date engineering documentation, procedures and manuals are in place and maintained for the operation and maintenance of the asset.

Maintenance Support:

  • Deliver optimum performance from mechanical systems by focusing on defect elimination and by refining maintenance strategies and practices.

  • Interface with colleagues in the Operations Team to ensure experiences and lessons learned are appropriately incorporated into the maintenance strategies of mechanical systems and equipment.

  • Support the development of the Maintenance Strategy including the Maintenance Management System (Maximo).

  • Lead in the management and refinement of equipment maintenance routines.

  • Be accountable for the development of the mechanical portion of the Maintenance Budget and input to the development of future budgets.

  • Work closely with the Planner and Scheduler and the maintenance supervisors to ensure campaign maintenance is undertaken in the most effective and cost advantageous manner. Ensure Integrated Field Planning is delivered and integrated effectively and develop and manage the mechanical maintenance strategy.

Integrity Assurance:

  • Manage asset inspection schemes and programs including technical input to and review of proposals.

  • Implement and maximize Risk Based Inspection techniques across the whole asset.

Competence Assurance:

  • Support development of the wide mechanical operations competency assessment program, covering all maintainable mechanical equipment, to assure that personnel operating and maintaining mechanical equipment are competent to do so.

  • Coach, mentor and contribute to the professional development of national mechanical engineers.

Contract Management:

  • Liase with the Contract Accountable Managers (CAM) for the mechanical operations support contracts, to ensure that performance is managed and opportunities for improvement exploited.

Qualifications/ Experience:
  • The applicant should ideally be a Chartered Mechanical Engineering

  • A minimum of 10 years relevant experience.

  • Applicants working towards membership of a relevant Mechanical Engineering Institution will also be considered.

  • The applicant must have a proven history in engineering and maintenance of onshore/terminal/gas processing equipment and systems.
