As an experienced Development Engineer in the development of major offshore projects, you will be responsible for the management of the operational coordination between facilities, operations, and reservoir engineering for an offshore project located in 1,500 meter water depths in the South China Sea, offshore China. The scope will require experience in facilities engineering, operations, and reservoir engineering, and the ability to bring in the project within approved cost and schedule, while meeting or exceeding corporate Health Safety & Environment (HSE) targets. In this role you will also provide expert input regarding offshore operations and reservoir aspects to the development, risk identification and mitigation, safety and environment, staffing etc. of the project. You will work closely with the Business Unit, delivering fit for purpose facilities within an approved budget, and provide innovative strategies and solutions to maximize value for the Company. You will be required to be located in the engineering contractor's offices in SE Asia for a period of approximately 12 months, with later relocation to China during execution of the project.

In this role, you will have an opportunity to build upon your experience and expertise while you undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Ensure operations and reservoir aspects are fully considered in the facilities design, so that the facilities are fit for purpose and operationally sound

  • Deliver project on schedule and within approved budgets

  • Recruit any needed international offshore project expertise in line with the above strategy

  • Take an active leadership role to expand project and risk management skills within our organization

  • Champion HSE behaviours to provide top quartile performance within competitor peers

Qualifications/ Experience:

The following skills, qualifications and experience are required:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering is required

  • Master's Degree in engineering would be an asset

  • Professional Engineering status would be an asset

  • A minimum of 20 years experience in offshore development engineering management on a global basis

  • A minimum of 3 years experience working physically offshore in operations

  • A minimum of 5 years living and working outside the candidate’s “home country"

  • Proven practical understanding of project and cost management principles and best practices

  • Familiarity with reservoir engineering and offshore operations

  • Proven track record as leader in international offshore project environment

  • Understanding of up to date Risk Management practices

  • Knowledge of current business processes and best practices as utilized in international offshore project execution

  • Experience with offshore operations of major projects

  • Collaborative experience with reservoir engineering

  • Proven leadership, communication and team building and innovation skills

  • Strong business acumen, including strategic thinking, planning and prioritizing, and decision-making skills

  • Above average written and spoken English skills are essential

  • Ability to read and speak Mandarin is a definite plus

  • An external networking framework with the contracting community would be ideal
