Regional Ecologist

An amazing opportunity has opened for a talented individual to join a leading consultancy in the Oxfordshire area. Your role will be to functionally lead a regional team of ecologists, and to deliver consultancy work on time and within budget to a range of clients.

Your key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Carry out fieldwork as appropriate on demanding sites, ranging from extended Phase 1 surveys to more specialist work for example protected species surveys, National Vegetation Classification etc.
  • Setting and maintaining technical standards for the team, providing quality control and monitoring of delivered work e.g. field work and reports. Use professional body (e.g. IEEM) to ensure standards are appropriate
  • Train, coach and mentor consultants in team over a wide range of technical areas, identifying training needs and training solutions, in conjunction with line manager. Use professional body
  • Carry out fieldwork as appropriate on demanding sites, ranging from extended Phase 1 surveys to more specialist work for example protected species surveys, National Vegetation Classification etc.
  • Oversee ecological inputs into Environmental Impact Assessments within the Region.

The successful candidate will have a relevant degree in an environmental discipline preferably Ecology, with knowledge of ecological principals and habitat management. You will also have experience working as an ecologist in a commercial environment with excellent communication skills and a full driving license.

Other desirable attributes include:

  • A post-graduate degree in an environmental subject or equivalent
  • Experience in EIA preparation and management
  • Current or past protected species licence holder
  • Membership of a relevant professional body
