Senior Aquatic Ecologist - 2 roles to fill

Southampton, UK

£30000 - £40000 per annum

Job responsibilities:

-Provide expert technical analysis and support to the aquatic team focussing on fisheries issues.
-Lead/coach team members on new and existing policies, procedures and techniques.
-Ensure that a high quality of written report is produced.
-Demonstrate high level of technical competency, ability to lead surveys and work to a defined timescale.


Accountabilities:

1. Help develop and deliver the team business plan; provide professional/technical expertise to support operational priorities, in line with current legislation and our own policy.

2. Mentor and support team members to develop technical skills. Resolve local issues and incidents; ensure decisions are made on sound technical grounds and in line with best practice and timeframes.

3. Identify and produce documents and reports to agreed quality standards for operational work, management decisions, public enquiries, court appeals etc. Ensure information, evidence and our own interests are accurately and effectively presented.

4. Influence customers and build strong partnerships internally and externally; maintain a positive reputation; resolve issues effectively.

5. Ensure all projects are delivered without risk to any team or individual; put health and safety at the heart of what you do; encourage and develop a safety-conscious culture within the team.

6. Provide and co-ordinate specialist technical advice and guidance to teams, from a range of sources; ensure that decisions are based on sound technical judgement and are in line with current legislation.


Experience requirements:
*Experience of interpreting and reporting on environmental data and monitoring activities
*Ability to work collaboratively with other teams throughout the organisation and externally with stakeholders.
*Able to brief senior management teams on problems and solutions.
*Experience of coaching and mentoring
*Professional membership
