Bioenergy Consultant

Salary: £30K+

A leading multidisciplinary has created an exciting and challenging position for a Bioenergy consultant to become part of its success.

The successful candidate will provide consultancy services to industry, governments and NGOs.

Key activities include resource assessments, conceptual development, technology selection, feasibility studies, project development support and guiding planning permission applications.

You will be expected to generate sales leads via your knowledge of the market and existing contact network and write proposals to secure new consulting contracts

Supporting non-bioenergy colleagues on policy, strategy and technical work related to biomass/bioenergy.

Departments of bioenergy within their offices are dealing with execution of studies and realization of installations in the field of bioenergy. Focus areas in the field of bioenergy are: biomass combustion and co-firing, biofuels - including second generation technology developments, anaerobic digestion, electricity and/or heat generation (CHP) and/or biogas and biomass supply chain sustainability. We pay attention to the whole biomass chain: biomass supply, logistics, conversion and production/generation and sale of end products (electricity, heat, biofuels/pellets).

Your profile

Essential Knowledge/experience:

  • Demonstrable professional experience in bioenergy related work
  • Experience related to biogas / biofuels / biomass combustion / co-firing / electricity production / heat production and/or CHP; ideally you have experience with the realisation of bioenergy projects in one of the bioenergy areas
  • A thorough understanding of the national renewable energy and climate change policy and legislation.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the legislative requirements and planning permission procedures for building new bioenergy facilities.
  • Experience conducting feasibility studies and/or preparing/evaluating applications to finance projects/businesses
  • Good knowledge of the various companies and other organisations involved in the energy industry.
  • A well established contact network in your country

Desirable knowledge/experience:

  • A professional background in an energy or waste sector, oil or gas industry, agro-industry, forestry, agriculture, wood processing or paper industry will be an advantage.
  • Experience with planning procedures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in business, science, engineering, or equivalent subject
