Senior Geophysicist

This operator has invested huge sums in its human and technological resources over the last few years. They are an independent E&P company with operations in Africa and Europe. Fuelled by their people’s ambition, they have rapidly grown and have constantly increased their turnover year on year. With a firm strategic plan in place, this organisation is looking to build on the success they’ve had to date and fully expects 2011 to be a record year. With their asset base consisting of a number of producing properties and exploration & development properties as well as new venture opportunities, it is easy to see why this company has such a confident outlook. This is an operator on the move.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be based within a multi disciplined environment and will come into contact with numerous personnel, from Geologists to Petrophysicists, Reservoir Engineers to Seismologists. You will provide first class technical input on a host of differing projects and activities, plus will liaise with third parties to ensure proper implementation of programmes and solutions. Some experience areas needed for this role includes:

  • 2D and detailed 3D seismic interpretation

  • Interpretative seismic processing

  • Site survey data acquisition

  • Risk and uncertainty analysis

  • Volumetric estimation

They would like to see operational experience in either the North or Norwegian Sea. Ideally you will have worked within an operator already and even though this post is for a Geophysicist, with you working within a multi disciplined environment they expect a basic level of knowledge within Reservoir Engineering and Petrophysics. It is important you are willing to undertake a leadership role, this post will see you lead a team and you will be involved in the mentoring and tutoring of more Junior orientated individuals. A BSc or higher in Geophysics is required along with a proven background in the business environment.
