Resident/ Country Manager

Central Africa – Congo

ORGANISATION

Our client is a medium sized international operator. With major assets in West & Central Africa as well as Scandinavia this company has been growing at a steady rate over the last 8 years. Over the last 12 months, this publicly owned company has decided to push things further, bringing on more senior staff to reduce outsourcing costs. For this reason this company is offering a very attractive expat package in order to attract the best candidates.

REQUIREMENTS OF ROLE

The role will see the successful candidate undertake a wide range of duties such as:

  • Liaises with the authorities and other stake holders and ensures that resources in Congo are perceived as a preferred business partner.
  • Reviews governmental authority regulations and the compliance therewith to avoid the company incurring potential prosecutions or penalties as a result of non-compliance.
  • Ensures that the company delivers expected results and can cope with unplanned and unwanted circumstances in a professional and timely manner.
  • Being responsible for initiating and implementing of agreed business opportunities.
  • Being responsible for promotion of corporate policies and strategies.
  • Establishing and maintain country specific policies, procedures, ethics and standards, i.e establish and implement a management system in compliance with corporate requirements.
  • Ensuring that deviations from policies, procedures, ethics and standards are properly documented and corrective efforts initiated and completed.
  • Cooperate with corporate function in developing ambitious and realistic targets and objectives for the local operation for the approval of the Board.
  • Provides proper reports and statistics on activities as basis for continuous learning and as guided by corporate management.
  • Initiates audits to ensure that activities are in compliance with policies, procedures, established ethical standards and other relevant standards.
  • Promotes effective motivation of, and communication within, the workforce.
  • Ensures that calls for tenders and quotations are in line with Company policies, for all activities.
  • Ensures that all purchases are according to established standards.
  • Ensures timely application of solutions to improve the Company’s financial results (increase of revenues, reduction of costs pertaining to personnel, equipment, etc.) and to meet pre-defined objectives.
  • Maintains control over and responsibility for the local company’s budget.
  • Ensures effective selection, training, competence and performance of all personnel within his area of responsibility.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The successful applicant will need to have extensive knowledge of West Africa in general and in particular the culture, way of business and language of the Congo. You will have extensive experience from management of an oil company in Africa as well as broad and demonstrable experience covering all aspects of exploration, development and production. Ideally applicants will bring with them experience of high level management positions preferably from within independent/ major oil company organisation(s) and from different countries/cultures. Academically, you will have a Master’s of science within geoscience, reservoir engineering, facilities or related field. A strong leader and communicator, you will need to be fluent in multiple languages most notably English and French
