Senior Geologist

This expanding global company has a successful history within the fields of oil and gas exploration and production. They are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join this dynamic team and want someone who has a well developed network within the industry in order to develop opportunities for the company. The Senior Geologist role itself will see an individual taking on many key responsibilities including undertaking geological evaluations, managing technical relationships with both partners and government bodies, managing work programs and regional evaluations, and mentoring junior staff in order to develop their career progression.

There are several criteria for this position. In terms of personal characteristics an individual will need to be able to work well within a team and also be able to manage junior staff effectively. In addition the company is looking for someone who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and an individual who is dependable, willing to take on extra responsibilities and is driven by the idea of new challenges.

On a more technical level, the organisation is looking for someone with the following skills and knowledge:

• Experience at the technical level rather than only the managerial.

• A full understanding of petroleum systems analysis including source, maturation, accumulation, reservoir and trap.

• Knowledge of sedimentology, wellsite operations, geochemistry, economics and also GIS packages.

• The ability to put a round application document together and experience of geological interpretation packages.
