Senior Geophysicist

Location: Aberdeen

In relation to the Senior Geophysicist role, you will play an important role in helping to develop a strong geoscience focus for the company. Within the role you will be required to lead a multi-disciplinary team of geoscientists, perform analysis of seismic data and its incorporation into 3D models of fields, undertake work required for exploration appraisal and field development operations, and finally provide support to the Chief Geophysicist.

There are several essential criteria for this role which a candidate is required to have:

  • A degree in Geology or Geophysics with extensive experience in the oil industry.

  • In depth knowledge of Landmark 3D geophysical interpretation software suite and other interpretation tools.

  • Operational experience including geophysical acquisition and processing.

  • The ability to effectively lead a project group and to work to tight deadlines whilst completing projects to a high standard.

  • Experience of successfully working with or supervising external contractors.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • A good understanding of innovative developments and the commerciality of hydrocarbon exploration and production.

The position will also give you the opportunity to be nominated for a project leader role. If successful, you will have several key responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinating the activities of team members, updating project schedules and completing accurate reports following project completion.

  • Providing geophysical interpretation, assessment and presenting conclusions to the company and management.

  • Provide technical follow up on geophysical studies including those of seismic acquisition and reprocessing programmes.

  • Representing the company at committees and workgroups, where you will present interpretations and technical or economic recommendations for development.

  • Assisting the Chief Geoscientist with the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets, including developing technical budget recommendations.
