Principal Consultant: Offshore Ornithologist



Location: Scotland or North of England
£30,000 to £40,000 + Pension + Bonus scheme

Our client is an independent consultancy who provides Environmental Planning and Assessment services to the Renewable Energy industry.

They are seeking to make a key appointment within their business by acquiring the services of an experienced Ornithologist to grow and develop their Offshore surveying capabilities.

An experienced and well-established onshore Ecology team is already established within the business, and you will be provided with excellent support and resource from the department head. The team currently provide ecological and ornithological assessment work, including preparation of EIAs for onshore wind farm proposals, strategic advice on planning constraints, mitigation and monitoring.

The candidate sought for this role is likely to be established within the industry, with a good network of contacts. Although the immediate need is to establish a presence in Ornithology work, there will be scope for establishing general Ecological survey services to the offshore industry as the role develops.

You will possess good knowledge of ornithological survey techniques and experience of managing EIAs for offshore wind farms. Experience of conducting collision risk assessments will also be expected, along with analysis of offshore bird data.

Candidates will hold a relevant degree, and a full clean driving licence.

Salary will be negotiable depending on the experience of the applicant. A pension and generous bonus scheme is also on offer.
