Senior Planner


Location: Leeds, UK

Our client is one of the largest and most successful multi-discipline consultancies in Europe with offices in over 40 countries worldwide. They require a Senior Planner in their Planning Landscape and Heritage team to play a key role in expanding the Company’s Planning capability and developing the planning business in Yorkshire. The person will be based in Leeds but will work with other offices, particularly throughout the north.

The successful applicant will join a progressive planning team with a wide range of client interests within the public and private sectors and will report to the Head of Planning in the north. The person must be an experienced planner with expertise in the field of statutory planning and development, with some experience of environmental planning. Commercial experience in the private sector is desirable.

The role will include developing and expanding the client base within Yorkshire as well as representing the team and its capabilities to external and internal clients.

The ideal candidate will be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, with appropriate amount of post qualification experience. The following skills and experience is also required;

  • Recognisable project and management experience, including some time in the private sector;
  • Good knowledge of the Yorkshire and North East market;
  • Experience of financial and commercial management is desirable;
  • Good knowledge of planning law and procedures with experience in statutory planning, including the co-ordination and negotiation of planning applications, and preparation of policy documents;
  • Be able to demonstrate ability to work alongside and co-ordinate a range of technical specialists providing input into planning submissions;
  • Must possess good communication skills, with ability to draft reports to a high standard;
  • Have managed complex planning and development projects and have been responsible for their delivery to a client;
  • Experience of successful budget management for development schemes will be required.
