Consultant/Senior Consultant - Bioenergy


London, UK


Our client is a leading company in the field of renewable energy, energy efficiency and climate change, delivering sustainable energy services and innovations. They have recently established a bioenergy division in the UK and are looking for a consultant to join their team in London.

Key Areas of Focus & Core Responsibilities will include: -

  • Provide consultancy services to industry, governments and NGO´s.
  • Focus areas in the field of bioenergy are biomass combustion and co-firing, electricity and/or heat generation (CHP), biofuels, including second-generation technology developments, anaerobic digestion and/or biogas, biomass supply chain sustainability
  • Key activities include resource assessments, conceptual development, technology selection, feasibility studies, project development support and guiding planning permission applications
  • You will be expected to generate sales leads via your knowledge of the UK market and existing contact network and write proposals to secure new consulting contracts
  • Supporting non-bioenergy colleagues on policy, strategy and technical work related to biomass/bioenergy

Person Specification

Knowledge Required

Essential

  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience in bioenergy related work
  • A thorough understanding of UK renewable energy and climate change policy and legislation
  • Experience related to biomass combustion / co-firing / electricity production / heat production and/or CHP
  • A comprehensive understanding of the legislative requirements and planning permission procedures for building new sustainable energy facilities
  • Experience conducting feasibility studies and/or preparing/evaluating applications to finance projects/businesses
  • Good knowledge of the various companies and other organisations involved in the energy industry
  • A well-established contact network in the UK

Desirable

  • A professional background in an energy or waste sector, oil or gas industry, agro-industry, forestry, agriculture, wood processing or paper industry will be an advantage
  • Experience with planning procedures
  • Ideally you will bring professional knowledge on sustainability topics related to biomass

Qualifications required

Essential • Bachelors degree in business, science, engineering, or equivalent subject

Desirable • Masters degree • MBA • PhD
