Regional Director


Flexible UK Location


This is an outstanding opportunity to become part of a worldwide team of professionals involved in designing, managing and implementing leading edge programmes and projects in the water, environmental and energy sectors. The role of the Regional Director within the Natural & Built Environment business is a senior management position reporting to the Regional Managing Director. The Regional Director will have the exceptional leadership and team building skills necessary to grow the business unit, whilst maintaining optimum profitability and achieving client satisfaction.

Main duties will include: -

  • Leading the NBE business
  • Developing NBE business both within the company and externally
  • Delivering excellence in client service
  • Leading, managing, developing and engaging NBE staff

Key Accountabilities:

1. Business Leadership

  • Act as leader of the NBE business unit within their assigned region.
  • Assist the RMD, NBE with the strategic planning for the business unit including the compilation of the annual business plan.
  • Develop, implement and monitor the agreed business plan within their assigned region, managing the business as required to ensure that budget expectations for revenue and profit are met or exceeded.
  • Report promptly on their region’s business performance, forward workload and resources expectations each month to the business unit’s management team.
  • Ensure that payments due to the Company are reduced to the lowest possible turn-round time and take appropriate action with clients when the situation becomes unreasonable.

2. Business Development

  • Work with the NBE, Community of Practice (CoP) leaders and the NBE Business Development Manager to plan and progress business development initiatives within their assigned region.
  • Implement NBE and local initiatives to maximise the revenues from existing NBE and wider clients.
  • Maintain frequent client contact to understand their business objectives and promote the company's services to meet these objectives and develop new business.

3. Client Service

  • Ensure outstanding project delivery within the region and liaise with the NBE Senior Project Manager and Technical Manager to ensure the project delivery and quality systems are implemented.
  • Represent the firm, with the goal of maintaining client satisfaction at all times, regularly seeking client feedback, recording such feedback and ensuring that action plans are put in place for continuous improvement purposes.

4. People Management

  • Coach and mentor staff as appropriate and be available to all staff within the region who wish to discuss any issues.
  • Liaise with NBE’s Head of Resources and Recruitment, and other appropriate staff, to plan staff resources within their region.
  • Assist the RMD, NBE to determine salaries and bonus distributions for business unit staff, within the limits set out by EMEAI leadership.
  • Promote staff engagement and the company culture throughout the NBE region.

To be successful in this role you will need: -

  • Extensive experience in technical consultancy ideally with some time in a management position
  • Proven ability as a strategic thinker able to seize new opportunities, develop long-term strategies and put appropriate plans into action
  • Strong people management skills including the ability to set clear standards and expectations and facilitate the involvement and development of staff
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills - ability to build strong client relationships
  • Enthusiastic, keen and motivated - able to work as part of a team or individually as required
  • Exceptional presentation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
