Fire Science Consultant

Our client is looking to appoint a Fire Science Consultant to join their team based in London.

The fire science group provides a 24/7 service to UK emergency services and local authorities to identify potential hazardous materials on scene, and provide scientific advice with respect to control and remediation. In particular they measure, monitor and manage accidental releases, contamination detection and monitoring, fire risk and investigation and scientific support.

The main purpose of this role will be fulfillment of fire science and other Health Safety & Environmental contracts in the South East and elsewhere in UK.

Main duties will include: -

  • To act and develop as a scientific adviser to emergency services
  • To undertake measurement and monitoring
  • To provide training assessment surveys in the built and natural environment
  • To support the fire brigade and other clients in relevant scientific aspects
  • To write scientific reports in fulfillment of survey work undertaken and participate in out of hours work rotas - providing scientific support to clients

Candidate Profile

  • Existing knowledge & capability regarding the characteristics & properties of hazardous materials
  • Scientific degree in relevant subject
  • Experience with use and application of a range of measurement and monitoring equipment associated with hazardous materials and other relevant fire science competencies
  • Willingness to engage in continuous professional development
  • Self-confidence and ability to communicate scientific concepts and information
  • Willingness to participate and develop client training activities
