The Sustainability Group of this leading architectural, design and engineering practice advises clients on how to achieve improved whole-life cost performance with reduced environmental impact. The consultancy addresses social, economic and environmental sustainability issues at all stages of developments - from Masterplan design through to building commissioning and operation. Their Sustainability Group provides a wide range of services across building design and regeneration to both the internal and external client. Services include BREEAM, EcoHomes and Code for Sustainable Homes assessments, thermal modelling, concept and detailed design, performance targets, whole life costing, Environmental Impact Assessments, Sustainability and Energy Statements for Planning and the provision of specialist innovative solutions. Qualifications and previous experience You will have a qualification in environmental design and/or sustainability related course, or an engineering/architectural background with an interest in pursuing a Masters qualification in environmental design and/or sustainability. You will have two to three years’ relevant experience working in the field of Sustainability. You will also have previous experience of environmental design within a commercial organisation. Candidate Profile The successful applicant will have an innate enthusiasm for driving developments towards sustainability, through the practical implementation of the principles of sustainability along with a thorough understanding of environmental, social and economic issues at local, national and global levels. You will be keen to promote the built environment recognising the influence of sustainability and modern technology and have a good understanding of the planning, design and construction industries and be able to work closely with urban designers, planners, architects and engineers. Good with numbers and graphics, you will be able to work well within a multi-disciplinary team environment. You will want to make changes both within the company and within the industry, will earn the confidence of both external and internal customers and will build relationships internally and externally. You will have the personality and charisma to encourage people to work with and for you. You will be flexible and will maintain a keen interest in developments in the industry, be enthusiastic about the design and construction process and possess a positive outlook on life. You will be driven and looking for an opportunity to develop the role and make a positive contribution to development of projects. You will have excellent communication and negotiation skills and have the ability to articulate and pitch ideas effectively and be looking for a fresh challenge.
