Principal Level Consultant - Energy & Sustainability


London/Surrey, UK


The company is a successful UK based consulting engineering practice working with leading architects and property companies on major commercial, residential and public sector construction projects. Their specialist Energy & Sustainability group provides professional advice on sustainable building design and operation to property investors, developers and managers, and to building design teams.

They are currently looking to appoint an experienced Consultant to advise major property clients, leading architects, and project teams on sustainable building design, and application of low and zero carbon energy technologies and systems in buildings.

As a senior member of the Group you will work on team and individual assignments, with a wide range of responsibilities such as: -

  • Advising clients, design teams, engineers and other professionals on all aspects of sustainability in the built environment, energy, and on the impact of related UK and EU policies.
  • Carrying out energy studies, environmental performance assessments and strategic sustainability appraisals.
  • Developing concepts and strategies to enhance sustainability, and translating these into workable designs and specifications
  • Collection, analysis and presentation of evidence to support the business case for sustainable development
  • Day to day coordination of Group activities meet project deadlines
  • Preparing and making presentations to internal and external audiences
  • Preparing and facilitating workshops or seminars
  • Developing the capabilities of the Group by developing methods and standards and maintaining an up to date, expert level of knowledge on sustainable design, construction, management and demolition of buildings, energy and environmental performance, and related issues
  • Assisting in identifying and developing new business opportunities related to sustainable development.

Qualifications

Suitable academic qualifications, higher degree in technology, engineering, science or architecture.

Experience

A minimum of 7 years professional experience, ideally but not necessarily in a design or construction environment.

Applications are particularly welcome from candidates with relevant experience in large buildings and mixed-use developments.

Experience of 'BREEAM' or international equivalents such as HQE, LEED or other environmental assessment tools would be an advantage.
