Technical Director



Location: London

Summary of Role:

Reports to: Managing Director

  • Act as the investment decision technical specialist
  • For lending transactions, evaluate qualitatively, the technical, industry specific commercial and market aspects of credit risk within the engineering design, contracting, construction, commissioning and operational activity associated with energy finance transactions that would include: LNG, FLNG, refining, petrochemicals and oil and gas pipeline projects
  • Prepare engineering and project delivery assessment reports and recommend appropriate sensitivity testing scenarios for cash flow analysis and critique potential risk mitigation measures for credit files for approval of the bank's credit teams and management.
  • Establish, maintain and grow relationships with industry contacts and all engineering, environmental and market consultants to assess their capabilities, identify new opportunities

High level of autonomy for analysis and be prepared to justify views to stakeholders including senior bankers, management and credit function

Required Experience / Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree
  • Significant experience in capital investment economic analysis and project execution risk evaluation
  • Ideally 15+ years' experience in the engineering design and project execution management of the large scale oil and gas processing industry projects
  • Experience in energy investment due diligence would be an asset
  • Strong knowledge of the design, construction and commissioning of oil & gas process engineering facilities particularly mid and downstream facilities including LNG, FLNG, refineries, petrochemical and pipelines
  • Experience of cost, schedule, constructability and commissioning risk assessments
  • Ability to assess and effectively articulate the opportunities, challenges and pitfalls of large complex high impact projects

Attributes

  • Willing to undertake overseas business trips
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Second European language would be advantageous
