Clastic Geologists
Badley Ashton and Associates Ltd is a leading reservoir geoscience company offering consultancy and training services to the oil industry world-wide. The Company has offices in Lincolnshire - UK, Abu Dhabi - UAE, Muscat - Oman together with a US subsidiary company based in Houston. The Company wishes to expand its technical teams to meet a growing overseas portfolio by recruiting highly-motivated professionals who are keen to develop their own futures in conjunction with the Company's vision.
We currently have vacancies for the following positions:
Senior Clastic Sedimentologist - Tidal Depositional Systems
The role
- To provide high-end clastic sedimentological consultancy services in the context of reservoir architecture in tidal depositional systems to a variety of international clients. This work would include frequent international travel and after completing a period in our UK office the successful candidate would be considered for secondment in one of our overseas offices
- Support, develop and monitor the technical development, including training and quality assurance, of junior geologists
- Technical scoping of new clastic work coupled with business awareness of industry trends
- Assist in the technical marketing and development of new business areas in accordance with the Company's vision.
Skills
- A Ph.D. with specialism in tidal depositional systems
- A strong understanding of trace fossils and their depositional implications
- An understanding of modern-day tidal depositional systems
- A proven track record of industry experience in exploration, appraisal or development of clastic reservoirs
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, to a variety of audiences
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and time management skills to meet client expectations and deadlines
- A drive for self-progression and career development within the Company with skills to lead a focused project team
- Computer literacy including experience in industry standard software (eg. TerraStation, Petrel).
Clastic Petrographer/Reservoir Quality Analyst
The role
- To join a focused work team, providing reservoir quality interpretation services to a variety of international clients
- The appointment could be made at either a senior or junior level.
Skills
- A Ph.D. or M.Sc. with a specialism in the diagenesis of clastic reservoir systems
- A working knowledge of light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), cathodoluminescence and fluid inclusion (FI) analysis; a specialism in XRD or FI would be an advantage
- Experience of pore system analysis, and its integration with sedimentological data would be an advantage
- Self-motivation with excellent communication skills, both via reports and presentations
- Computer literacy in standard office applications
- A drive for self-development and career advancement within the Company.
