Role summary
- To act as operational Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor for selected Asset/Project activities, in particular, to focus on proactive management of operational and field health and safety and support environmental work.
Areas of responsibility
- Health & Safety Focal Point: Act as competent Health and Safety focal point for the HSEQ Department on behalf of the Company and on specific projects in our operated and non-operated activities
- Leadership: Supervising and directing field HSE Advisors in projects. Lead and support Health and Safety Aspects of field development activities. Uphold and promote HSE behaviours in line Company Principles, Policies and Procedures. Ensure that health, safety and environmental culture is integrated into activities and to ensure that all key contractors are aware of and share Cairn's HSE objectives, targets and KPIs for designated project(s)
- Project Delivery: Preparation of Project Delivery Process (Gated Process) document deliverables and participation in PDP for specified projects. Delivery of health, safety and environmental services to internal stakeholders
- Hazard & Risk: Participate in project hazard/risk related workshops and risk assessments. Manage project risk registers and ensure that risk mitigation plans are in place.
- Compliance: Develop and implement mechanisms and registers to ensure compliance with the commitments, permit/regulatory conditions and Corporate requirements. Manage, organise and participate in technical (HSE) audit and Health and Safety inspection programmes e.g. for drilling rig, vessels, helicopter and supply base, and all other Asset /Project related services to ensure compliance with Asset / Project HSE requirements.
- Technical Health & Safety: Provide technical H&S (E) advice to all relevant collaborators.
- Performance Monitoring: Assist in HSE data delivery from projects and relevant contractors and provide advice on continual improvement and performance against objectives, targets and KPIs.
- HS(E) Contractor Management: Evaluate contractors bid documentation, direct activities, develop and implement HSE Bridging Plans and associated HSE-MS documentation. Develop and implement Asset/Project HSE plans and establish a clear matrix of in-house and contractor responsibilities.
- Emergency: Participate as Duty HSE Co-ordinator on the Cairn Emergency Response Group including rota member; participation in emergency response training, and, exercise requirements as appropriate.

Skills/Experience Required
Education
- Degree in a relevant technical discipline.
- NEBOSH Diploma/CMIOSH required.
Relevant experience
- Extensive prior experience gained in a Health and Safety (E) advisory role, including overseas experience, preferably with an Oil and Gas Operator across seismic, drilling and operating activities
- Thorough knowledge and experience of implementing HSE Plans, Procedures, Methods, Reporting, Training to UK/EU/International IOC levels and ISO 14001/OHSAS18001- including developing/implementing HSE Policies, Procedures, and Safety, Security and CR programmes
- Competence in development and application of Safety Case, HAZOPs, HAZID, SIMOPs and Risk assessment
- Accident / Incident Investigation competence
- Adept at Planning, Organising, Coordinating and Communicating
- Experience of MS Office + HSE standards/Programmes
- Experience of working in an international context.
- Experience of working with in a demanding operating team environment, and demonstrating a strong awareness of HSE and risk management issues
