No. 2008/477CSIRO is Australia's national scientific research agency and is a key partner in the Western Australian Energy Research Alliance (WA-ERA). The petroleum research portfolio of CSIRO and WA-ERA provides support to the Australian petroleum industry and is characterised by strong core research capabilities in geoscience, engineering and gas processing as well as diverse skills in environmental research, manufacturing and ICT. Much of our research involves integration across disciplines and is done in collaboration with universities, other research agencies and industry. AusGas is a major research initiative in support of the Australian gas industry directed at both conventional and unconventional gas. Specific research themes have been identified in the exploitation of deepwater remote gas, LNG, GtL, coal seam gas and tight gas with a broad remit from exploration through production to gas processing. AusGas will also provide a focus for CSIRO's carbon capture and storage research, much of which is undertaken in association with CO2CRC and other groups. With the projected expansion of gas-related research under AusGas, CSIRO is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to lead the gas research effort in collaboration with the Australian gas industry. Although based in the Petroleum Division, the successful candidate will work closely with other relevant researchers in CSIRO and beyond. The ideal candidate will have a technical background related to any aspect of the gas industry but with a broad appreciation for the wider gas sector.
