Geophysical Operations Specialist
Position Summary:
ExxonMobil is seeking high-quality experienced geophysicists for Geophysical Operations positions described below. The positions are primarily based in Houston, Texas, with some worldwide travel expected. Opportunities for international assignments are possible.
General Criteria/Qualifications Required:
- Work experience relevant to the position being sought
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
- Established record of implementing/executing new or novel geophysical techniques and processes
- Excellent teamwork skills within integrated project teams to find the best solutions to geophysical imaging and applications problems with a diverse and sometimes distant workforce (virtual teams)
- Excellent communication skills and understanding of the latest industry technology
- Excellent presentation skills, including preparing and presenting information to company executives, technical management and peers in the same or related areas of work via informal or formal technical presentations
- Established record of working independently
- Preferred MS or PhD degree in related field of study
- Flexibility to accept short term rotations and/or long term deployments to ExxonMobil affiliates worldwide
Experience Desired:
- Demonstrated expertise in independent survey design, first line project management and/or Safety, Security, Health and Environment (SSH&E) management of seismic acquisition projects covering a broad range of geophysical environments Experience Desired
- Wide Azimuth, 4D seismic operations, 3D seismic operations (land and marine), high resolution site surveys
- Familiarity with ProMax, Norsar, Matlab, Nucleus, Mesa, Reflex, shell scripting or similar tools
Duties Include:
- Planning and designing geophysical programs including modeling and detailed calculations of physical earth attributes
- Providing project management oversight and Safety, Security, Health and Environment (SSH&E) management of field operations
- Executing advanced comprehensive geophysical survey designs
- Applying and teaching fundamental and modern geophysical techniques
- Effectively using modern software in the development of geophysical acquisition programs
- Participating in the procurement process and planning/implementing safe and environmentally sound operations
