Our Exploration teams in the UK are located in Leatherhead, Surrey and focus on ExxonMobil's portfolio of international exploration licences. The work ranges from evaluating new exploration plays, deep water conventional oil and gas exploration through to evaluating onshore unconventional tight oil and gas opportunities. The geodesists work with our exploration teams to assure accurate and well understood positioning and geospatial data is available to support the exploration activities. This includes positioning of wells, seismic surveys, and other on-shore and off-shore structures, working with state of the art acquired data, and also with historic data of various vintages.

The ideal candidate will specialise in Geomatics or Topographic Science although extensive knowledge in Earth Sciences supported by relevant industry experience would be considered. You should be a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and have a working knowledge of applications and databases used in upstream oil industry exploration, and particularly their geodetic features and limitations. Experience with GIS and ideally ArcGIS is desirable and you must have experience of working with systems using the ESPG Geodetic Parameter Dataset. You must be capable of communicating across a number of teams, and be able to explain the significance of geodetics to non-technical audiences.
