Our Exploration teams in the UK are located in Leatherhead, Surrey and focus on ExxonMobil's portfolio of international exploration licences. The work ranges from evaluating new exploration plays, deep water conventional oil and gas exploration through to evaluating onshore unconventional tight oil and gas opportunities. This is an exciting, constantly evolving and challenging work environment with a premium on technical excellence.
The User Support Geoscientist (USG) works closely with our exploration geoscientists and geotechnicians commonly acting as a liaison between the work groups they support and the broader Information Technology function. The USG partners with business users to understand business processes and geoscience work flows in order to advise and mentor geoscientists and geotechnicians in the most effective use of information technology to achieve their technical work goals.
Likely to be Geoscience educated with significant relevant upstream company experience, you must be an expert in the use of the Petrel application for log and seismic interpretation and analysis A robust understanding of geoscience data types used in oil and gas exploration including Well, Seismic and Spatial data, as well as Interpretation products is essential. A strong team player, the individual must have the ability and credibility to demonstrate technical leadership, whilst having the capability to interact with staff at all organisational levels.
