Chief Geophysicist




GEMS Survey Limited, based in Devizes, Wiltshire, is an established, internationally operating, innovative and fast growing marine survey company offering marine geophysical, metocean and hydrographic survey services.

GEMS Survey seeks applications for a new role within our expanding Geophysics division. The Position would be based in our Devizes offices and report directly to the Geophysics Manager. As one of the most rapidly expanding Geophysical companies in the industry, GEMS are highly active in the Cables sector, the Oil and Gas sector and are the foremost specialists in the UNCLOS/EEZ sector.

The successful candidate to be given this new and exciting role within GEMS would be looked on to enhance GEMS reputation in all market sectors and prepare the division for a continued expansion.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with clients, partners and employees, and a dynamic, hands-on approach to delivering geophysical services will be a key requirement of this position.

Key activities:

  • Develop and communicate the companies geophysical strategy
  • Interact with clients regarding the geophysical integrity of the services
  • Investigate new and emerging technologies and geophysical methods applicable to the oil, gas and cable industries
  • Provide geophysical insight and solutions with the aim of providing integrated geophysical services.
  • Manage and develop a team of expanding field geophysicsists to bring GEMS to the forefront of geophysical services.
  • Develop and maintain Geophysical interpretation and reporting procedures.
  • Identify and manage suitable training programmes to develop the skills of GEMS young and energetic geophysics team.
  • Oversee and QC delivery of final reports to key clients.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in geophysics.
  • 10 or more years experience in a Geophysical Services company
  • 3-5 years in manager/supervision position
  • Data processing and interpretation experience
