Woking, Surrey

Job Purpose:

Work as part of the Reservoir Services team to derive high quality products in the fields of seismic inversion, resolution enhancement, pore pressure prediction, petro elastic modelling, 4D quantitative analysis, and other areas of seismic and well data quantitative interpretation as required by our clients.

The role will require the ability to interface with client geophysicists and geologists in order to present works performed by Geotrace and to recommend workflows and/or methodologies to address specific quantitative interpretation challenges faced by client exploration and asset teams. Additionally, the promotion of innovative techniques within Geotrace’s Reservoir Services group and Geotrace’s Technologies Division for improving Geotrace’s technologies and capabilities in Reservoir Services will be encouraged and supported.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Minimum 2:1 Degree in Geophysics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Geological Science or other related technical subject
  • Minimum of A grade in A-Level Math’s and Physics
  • Understanding of and preferably “hands on” experience of seismic data processing
  • Strong Math’s and excellent problem solving skills
  • Experience of UNIX environment and/or aptitude for programming/scripting and learning large software packages
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
  • Good knowledge of data quality assurance and quality control methods
  • Self motivated, conscientious, organised
  • Eagerness to learn and accept challenging assignments
  • Willing to take the initiative
  • High energy level and positive attitude
  • Able to work well independently or as part of a team
  • Able to work accurately and to tight deadlines with proven time management skills
Principle Responsibilities
  • Manage and assist in the management and completion of reservoir services projects including gather conditioning, inversion, resolution enhancement, pore pressure prediction, seismic reservoir characterization, etc
  • Adapt and implement established Reservoir Services workflows to best accommodate and maximize the particular characteristics of individual projects
  • Interface with client G&G staff during the course of Reservoir Services projects to ensure the delivery of high quality reservoir services products and to guarantee attention to the geophysical objectives of our clients
  • Communicate with client G&G staff in interactive discourses to identify possible workflows to address specific areas of interpretation difficult within each project as expressed by the client
  • Communicate with the Woking and global Geotrace Reservoir Services staff to promote the continual improvement and development of Reservoir Services workflows
  • Assist in the identification of emerging technologies in the field of Reservoir Services
  • Communicate with Geotrace’s Technologies Division to ensure the continued development of Geotrace’s Reservoir Services capabilities and the research and development of emerging industry technologies in the field of reservoir services
  • Work with Geotrace’s Diamond system to facilitate the transition of Reservoir Service’s workflows from legacy systems to the Diamond system
