Geoscience Software Trainer

The Company

Ikon Science Ltd, the global geoscience technology company, has 15 locations worldwide, including London, Houston, Kuala Lumpur, Perth and Rio de Janeiro. Ikon provides software and consultancy solutions to the energy industry, developing technology and delivering RokDoc software, quantitative interpretation services, geo-pressure consultancy and multi-client studies (Roknowledge).

The company is young, fun and very ambitious. The role will suit those keen to travel and develop their teaching and technical skills simultaneously. This is an excellent entry point into the upstream industry.

The role

Reporting to the Training Manager, the job remit is to provide technical training to industry geoscientists, using the RokDoc suite of software.

Duties will include:

  • Assisting with and leading software training courses
  • Providing on-site software consultancy to clients
  • Assisting the software development, testing and support teams as necessary
  • Maintaining an up-to-date, working knowledge of developments in rock physics
  • Developing and maintaining training course materials
  • Working with the consultancy team to develop applied rock physics workflows

Skill requirements

  • Able to work in a team
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly verbal
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Able to generate new technical material suitable for client distribution
  • Attention to detail and responsiveness to client needs
  • Prior knowledge of Ikon Science software an advantage

Experience and Qualifications

  • Previous experience of teaching within the industry or at university an advantage
  • Relevant industry experience required
  • BSc and preferably an MSc in a relevant geoscience discipline

This job will be based at our offices in Teddington, South West London.

Relevant training will be provided where necessary.
