A senior Drilling Engineer for a global operator to be based in Stavanger, Norway. This is a new role which will aid in the expansion of their Scandinavian activities.

They client has a strong reputation as a major force in the global market and provide an opportunity for a successful candidate to join the team responsible for the drilling of exploration and appraisal wells commencing in the first half of 2011

You will report into the drilling manager and will be responsible in particular for well planning and technical and operational functions during the drilling process. This may include:

• overseeing pressure gradient analyses
• directional well planning
• well design
• drilling fluids
• AFE costs
• Compliance with Norwegian and company regulations
• cost estimates
• risk assessment
• quality control

The ideal candidate will be degree educated (engineering or similar discipline),have a minimum of 6 years experience as a drilling engineer. Experience with semi-submersible rigs/drill ships, as well as both vertical and horizontal drilling is essential. You will have a proven ability to work in a team and to interact with a range of personnel, with a knowledge of Compass, MS Project, DIMS, Well plan.

Previous experience in Norway is highly beneficial.
