Technical Data Management Analyst

West of London, Uxbridge

Our Technical Data Management Analysts deliver data management services and maintain Nexen’s internal and external data repositories. On a day to day basis they are responsible data loading, data migration, data manipulation, data clean-up, naming standards, archiving and supporting the Exploration and Development teams.

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate currently working as a Data Analyst within the Oil & Gas industry who would like to further develop their data management skills.

Job Responsibilities

  • Source and load Geological, Geophysical and Petrophysical data into OpenWorks and Petrel
  • Identify data quality issues and provide solutions (e.g. value ranges, unit¡¦s verification, etc)
  • Lead or participate in projects of improvements
  • Perform data management and data workflow tasks
  • Assist in tracking and distribution of data to partners

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Experience in an information or data management role in the Oil and Gas industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of G&G data formats and ability to trouble shoot and support
  • Well-grounded understanding in the Geophysical, Petrophysical and Geological disciplines
  • Knowledge of Exploration and Development processes
  • Experience working with technical data transfers and manipulation
  • Experience working with technical databases and applications

Desirable

  • Experience in PC, Linux/Unix environment (commands, scripts, SQL queries, Oracle)
  • Experience with using OpenSpirit or Blueback Tracker
  • Experience with submitting data to CDA.
