Operations Geophysicist



Our client is a leading Global Geophysical Services organisation, providing an extensive range of seismic services and products for the petroleum industry, they have more than 30 offices in over 20 countries.

They are currently recruiting for the position of Operations Geophysicist, based in London.

Job Description

An Operations Geophysicist to take responsibility for the planning and execution of acquisition and processing projects for our clients European locations. This role will can be based in either their London or Norway location. The successful candidate will have the opportunity gain exposure to a broad range of technical knowledge and have the opportunity to experience a range of exploration and development projects.

  • Acquisition
  • Participate in client meetings in the project initiation stage to understand client requirements
  • Geophysical survey planning to decide acquisition geometry and parameters
  • Operational survey planning
  • Survey execution; to be the responsible internal client of the survey and the link to the external client
  • Manage all geophysical decisions
  • (Re-)Processing and Reservoir Services
  • Participate in client meetings in the project initiation stage, to understand client requirements
  • Project planning to decide/agree scope of work
  • Project execution
  • Manage geophysical decisions
  • Marketing and sales
  • Participate in the marketing and sales of projects/data, both in planning stage and after data delivery
  • Follow technology developments very closely and work with the Vice President, Geophysical Projects to ensure we are at the forefront of testing and applying new technology

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant higher education
  • Relevant industry experience
  • First hand experience from both acquisition and data processing preferred
  • Strong technical and project management skills
  • Good communication skills in both written and spoken English

This is a permanent position.

The salary for this position is negotiable.
