Reservoir Engineering Department Head - Egypt
Our client is a very well respected medium sized global E&P company. The Reservoir Engineering Department Head provides sub-surface technical support to exploration, development projects and production operations activity conducted. In particular he/she provides expertise in the areas of reservoir engineering, production technology and production operations by undertaking the following tasks.
- Ensure the safety of all petroleum engineering operations and personnel.
- Conduct reservoir engineering and simulation studies which include building and maintaining reservoir simulation models for each discovered field. Use the models to predict production performance and reservoir behaviour in order to optimise field development plans and maximise reservoir recovery.
- Supervise a team of 6-8 national reservoir engineers and 2 expatriate engineers and devise workplans for the entire reservoir engineering department to ensure delivery of all JV and asset requirements.
- Provide QA/QC of all reservoir engineering work conducted within the JV.
- Ensure that all work performed is documented to the required standard by the partners and government.
- Provide production technology expertise to deliver high quality, cost beneficial Production Technology support in the planning, design and installation of well completions and well operations.
- Plan, supervise and report on well operations including development wells and future E&A well testing.
- Provide reservoir management for all producing fields operated within JV.
- Maintain a database of field production and reservoir data to be used for monitoring reservoir and well performance in order to maximise production.
Key Accountabilities:
- Management of department work program and provides assistance to Petroleum Engineering General Manager in budget preparation.
- Ensure excellence in HSE performance in all Departmental Activities.
- Management of all Reservoir Engineering staff and activity. Actively promoting team spirit within the Department.
- Identify performance improvement through setting and delivering performance targets and objectives for the Department.
- Ensure optimal technical solutions are applied across all Petroleum Engineering activities to maximise sub-surface asset value.
- Ensure lessons learned are captured and knowledge transferred across JV Petroleum Engineering activities.
- Provide the focal point for the all matters relating to Production Technology including completion design, specification and subsequent tendering.
- Reservoir performance optimisation through reservoir management, well performance monitoring, and production technology (Drill-In-Fluid optimisation, gravel pack design etc.)
- Providing Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering and Production Technology Input to Pre-Sanction Development Studies.
- Support delivery of projects through reservoir studies and the planning and implementing of safe and efficient well and completion operations.

- Strong technical skills in all areas of petroleum engineering, reservoir engineering and production technology both in conducting study work and planning and implementing operations.
- Managerial skills including team-building, budgeting and cost monitoring, performance management, presentation and good communication skills.
- Diplomatic skills that result in being able to operate and influence within a foreign, multicultural environment.
- Focal point across the Asset in areas of expertise.
- Leads multi-disciplinary teams to achieve programme delivery
- Contributes to Senior (Top) Management Reviews.
- Develops new Petroleum Engineering tools, work flows and strategies
Internal/External Interaction
- Convinces stakeholders on subsurface programmes as to whether or not to proceed.
- May Chair Sessions at External Conferences.
- Chairs OCMS and TCM for Operated Assets
- Delivers Keynote Speeches at External Conferences.
- Deals at high level with Government and other authorities to deliver business.
Experience Needed
- Mastery of Petroleum Engineering Subsurface Activities.
- Industry Recognized Expertise in Petroleum Engineering.
- Technical Mentoring and Training Skills.
- Proven cross disciplinary achievements and experiences in a broad range of subsurface activities.
- Track record in of delivery in multiple field development projects and countries worldwide.
- Assignment covering the full range of field types and operational phases.
- Develop work scopes for operated programmes with partners
- Minimum 15 years of experience over a broad base of petroleum disciplines
- Experience of working and delivering performance from within an international JV environment.
- Knowledge of reservoir modelling and development concepts along with direct experience of the techniques used to manage and appraise hydrocarbon accumulations.
- Track record of application of appropriate new technology
- Experience of well testing and completion operations in particular in the area of high rate unconsolidated deep water gas fields.
Understanding of related activity namely G&G, drilling and operation of production facilities
