My client requires a Playfairway Manager to sit within a specialist group created to provide the functional and technical excellence that supports all of their activities. With a firm emphasis on developing best practice and improved standards and capabilities, this division keeps my client at the cutting edge of industry performance as well as keeping a focus on their business objectives and long-term plans.

Position Summary
To provide expert geological advice and consultancy for regional scale play evaluation work programmes and projects.

Key Accountabilities

Accountable for defining, developing, documenting and delivering the playfairway work scopes, ensuring full implementation of other Subsurface Policies and Standards and related processes covering HSSE, EAC, VAF, PRI, Economics etc.

Responsible for implementing, maintaining and improving exploration play-related functional excellence across asset projects.

Acts as Exploration focal point for all regional and play-scale evaluation projects across my clients worldwide activities. Provides expert advice on geological techniques to asset staff and management and provides first line QA/QC for all play-scale work within the asset/team.

Has functional oversight of all input to the centralised play database and is responsible for maintaining content (and appropriate QC/QA of that content) as well as managing access to appropriate users within both the division and the Assets.

Responsible for ensuring that play evaluation training is brought to all relevant staff, especially Graduates and New Hires.

Reports to New Ventures Manager. Peers comprise other relevant subsurface asset based staff (eg Exploration Managers) and relevant specialists


Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Acknowledged expertise and experience across multiple countries, basins, plays and reservoirs(Recognised as an industry expert in their field).

Recognised expert in integration of geological and geophysical data at a regional scale and in providing high-level summaries to senior management.

Broad understanding of main technical, commercial environmental and political drivers governing the New Venture activity
Able to influence geosientists at all levels to encourage engagement with the new play techniques and promote knowledge sharing within the newly established community.

Able to influence at highest level in JVs and governments.

May have completed broadening projects, assignments, or other 'out of function' secondments e.g. Commercial, Technology, M&A, LNG.

Able to coach and mentor relevant technical staff.

Excellent presentation skills and clear and convincing report writing ability.

Proven skills in time and project management.

Must be effective operating in a matrix team structure.

Must be able to work in an unstructured 'virtual' team environment

Needs to be self aware, able and willing to grow and extend their influence with appropriate stakeholders.

Able to proactively manage their own professional development, in consultation with their Line and Parent Manager.
