![]() Sedimentologist - DenmarkSedimentologist My Client, a leading medium sized European operator has a current requirement for an experienced petroleum geologist with a strong background in reservoir characterization of shallow marine and continental, siliciclastic deposits. The Geoscience Group The role of the Geoscience Group is to provide expert technical assistance to exploration asset or study teams world wide. The group specializes in tasks relating to basin analysis, with particularly focus on petroleum systems evaluation, sedimentology, geochemistry and structural analysis. Work undertaken is performed in very close collaboration with asset teams and members of the Geoscience Group may periodically be allocated to asset teams to perform dedicated tasks. The Geoscience Group work with a large variety of geological, geophysical and petrophysical challenges. Close association with internal technical support groups such as Geophysics, Engineering and Data management is therefore essential. As an integral part of their work, the Geoscience Group is also responsible for establishing and maintaining collaboration with universities, research groups and individual experts worldwide and ensure that the available external knowledge is optimally used and integrated in the work. The Geoscience Group currently consists of 12 people. These include geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicists technical support staff. The Position The sedimentologist will act as the focal point for reservoir characterization and depositional analysis of siliciclastic deposits in the ExNB department. A major part of this function will be to advise and provide direct support to asset and study teams regarding the understanding and interpretation of depositional environments and sequences, basin fill history and reservoir quality. In addition to the advisory and support function, the role of the focal point is to ensure that depositional models and reservoir characterization within ExNB in general are of high quality and consistency. QC work may either be part of the integrated team work, informal technical reviews or formal risk and resource assessments. As member of the Geoscience Group, the sedimentologist is expected to actively work to establish, develop and maintain contacts to external service providers, consultants, subject matter experts, universities and other research institutes. Qualifications • Enthusiastic and strong team player with good communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate others. • Solid theoretical background in sedimentology and reservoir characterization with a relevant experience level of 10 years or more in the oil industry. • Broad and firm experience from a variety of depositional settings and basins. • Knowledge of petrography, siliciclastic diagenesis and reservoir quality prediction. • Ability to work independently with 2D and 3D seismic interpretation. • Interest in innovative technology detection, development and implementation. • Ability to communicate fluently in both written and spoken English.
