Geomechanics Specialist

A well respected International Operator requires a Geomechanics Specialist to work on their global projects.

As a key member of the global petrophysics group, the individual will support the development geomechanics techniques to improve drilling and production operations (e.g. by undertaking wellbore stability or sand production prediction studies). When necessary, the individual may also be required to support assets involved in exploration, development and production operations.

Duties

- To work as a member of the growing geomechanics team within the operator, to help develop internal capabilities in using geomechanics to optimise drilling operations, optimise hydraulic fracturing operations, mitigate against the risks of solids production and wellbore deformation during field production operations.

- To assist in the identification and management of internal and external Joint Industry Projects, focused on the development of advanced technologies in the geomechanics area.

- To undertake geomechanics technical work to support international asset teams exploration, appraisal and development activities, and where necessary also use their petrophysics skills to interpret log data.

- To mentor other personnel working within the petrophysics discipline, and other disciplines, to acquire the right data necessary for the development of robust geomechanical models.

- To work as a proactive member of the petrophysics community, to share experience and knowledge and build functional excellence., and undertake activities in conformance with standards and recommended best practices.

Requirements

- Knowledgeable and internationally mobile geomechanics petrophysicist, of graduate-calibre, with excellent team working capabilities within a multi-cultural environment.

- Experience of geomechanics to mitigate risks arising from wellbore instability, solids production and casing shear.

- Good working knowledge of mud log, LWD, wireline, fluid and core acquisition and interpretation processes and methods.

- Established IT skills, using standard Microsoft Office Software and petrophysical data interpretation software.

- Experience of Recall/Review would be an advantage.

- Expertise in one or all of the following: acoustic data acquisition, seismic-petrophysics/rock physics modelling or geomechanics.
