![]() Deputy Chief Geophysicist - DenmarkMy client is a medium sized operator with a global presence and a commitment to technical excellence. They have a current requirement for a Deputy Chief Geophysicist for the Corporate Petroleum Technology Group. The position The Geophysical Team is led by the Chief Geophysicist and provides geophysical support and guidance across the whole company. In particular, it provides services to the exploration and development teams working on Denmark, Norway, UK, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Angola, Brazil, USA and other new venture areas. The services supported predominantly cover the marine market but the percentage of land work is increasing. The range incl udes seismic acquisition and processing (time, depth, time-lapse), survey design, quantitative interpretation, VSP acquisition and processing and the promotion of geophysics within the company as a whole. In addition to these services, the Geophysical Team is also in charge of defining best practices, assessing and transferring of new technologies as well as ensuring the vitality of the overall geophysical community. Your role will be to assist the Chief Geophysicist to whom you will report directly. Your job will cover a wide range of responsibilities, including (but not limited to) technical advice on specific topics or missions, project supervision, implementation of best practices and follow up of technology transfers. The person The right candidate will be educated to MsC/PhD level and will have significant experience in the oil industry. Preferably most of which is gained working within an operating oil company. Qualifications: • High level broad band geophysical expertise • Competent in interdisciplinary team work for the front-end, design, project and production phases. • Demonstrated experience and interest in the development and mentoring of (specialist) staff • Interest in innovative technology detection, development and implementation. • Real ability to communicate and collaborate across a broad spectrum of nationalities and cultures - both internally (geoscience group, asset teams etc.) and externally (license partners, technology providers, conferences etc.) • Ability to effectively represent my client externally at industry conferences etc. • Fluent communication skills in both written and spoken English. Key Roles and Responsibilities: • Active participation in the definition of a set of corporate standards and guidelines to provide a basis for assuring the technical quality of deliverables. • Ensure that these standards and guidelines are shared and implemented across my client in a timely and effective manner. • Foster cross-fertilisation and workflow integration between the various surface and sub-surface disciplines. • Identification of the key technologies and applications that my client will require in the future as well as support their development and implementation. • Follow up of specific projects requesting a particular technology focus and/or matrix oriented communication and management.
