Drilling ENgineering Team Leader - Aberdeen, Scotland






POSITION: Drilling Engineering Team Leader
LOCATION: Aberdeen


The Position:
The Drilling Engineering Team leader will be responsible for the provision of well design, planning, programming operations and measurement management in accordance with the well planning process and drilling management system, in order to ensure technical integrity. Supervision of procedures and processes to ensure that all appropriate options are considered, developing and promoting techniques and strategies that optimise asset value. Mentoring and supervision of drilling engineers. The Drilling Engineering Team Leader will re port directly to the Drilling Manager.


Responsibilities:
• Lead the team of drilling engineers for all UK well planning and operations
• Manage drilling engineering team to bring wells to an appropriate state of readiness to facilitate rig selection and well allocation.
• Mentoring and supervision of drilling engineers.
• Ensure that well designs and drilling programmes are planned in conjunction with company policies and standards, using relevant standards and guidelines
• Ensure compliance with the well planning process.
• Development of appropriate specifications for procurement of equipment and services.
• Prepare permits and applications to statutory bodies to conform with local governmental and other agency requirements.
• Prepare well cost estimates and AFEs. Monitor field costs and analyse variances.
• Monitor and measure performance against expectations. Analyse variances and act as a focal point for lessons learned.
• Coordinate and liaise with other disciplines on well issues.
• Coordinate service company support.
• Liaise with and support well-site activities as directed.
• Promotion and management of all well construction performance improvement initiatives resulting from the lessons learned.


Key Positional Accountabilities:
• Ensure that long-lead material and equipment are identified for procurement on time.
• Optimise performance by special studies, when appropriate, and ensure the proper application of new technology.
• Implementation of lessons learned system in relation to drilling operations.
• Planning, programming and timely reporting of all programme activities.
• Encourage good, open communications with contractors, promoting a culture of involvement and participation.
• Compliance with well examination process and submission of all drilling permits and permissions required to meet drilling plan.
• Facilitate effective interfaces between all services provided to drilling operations.
• Liaison and communication with the subsurface and well operations teams.
• Contribute to the optimisation of the asset's performance.
• Participate in cross asset initiatives to identify new technologies and enable the global team to benefit from drilling experiences elsewhere.
