Drilling Engineer - Deepwater Team Leader Houston - USA Overview Technical specialist possessing advanced knowledge in the area of Deepwater Project Planning and Drilling. As a member of an integrated project team, you will participate in the delivery of project concepts, well plans and well costs options for formal project sanction. Leads and conducts or participates in complex drilling and completion engineering studies to ensure best in class field layout and design, working with subsea completions Lead, incorporating BAT (best available technology). Working in alongside the Completions Lead, you will develo p well designs, well programs and procedures, integrating completion plans, and specifies equipment and materials for new and existing Deepwater Subsea and dry-tree wells, focused on current and future deepwater developments. You will work with the Deepwater Completion, Subsurface and Reservoir teams to ensure optimal design of Deepwater Subsea and dry-tree wells.
Detailed Responsibilities
• Establishes best-in-class standards to ensure the success of all Deepwater Project Subsea and dry-tree wells.
• Establishes and tracks metrics by which to gauge the success of the project, and each well.
• Develops and analyses tender packages for vendor selection of Deepwater Project Subsea and dry-tree wells equipment.
• Coordinates vendors to ensure availability of materials, equipment, and personnel for Deepwater Project Subsea and dry-tree wells.
• Participates in multi-disciplined teams for designing and specifying equipment to ensure optimal completions.
• Develops all Deepwater Project Subsea and dry-tree wells procedures to ensure they comply with business unit engineering standards.
• Develops and recommends all Deepwater Project Subsea and dry-tree wells AFE's.
• Interfaces with Deepwater Drilling Team, Field Development Team and Deepwater Development Subsurface and Reservoir Teams to insure the highest quality wells and completions.
• Reviews and approves all project drilling fluid / cement design compatibility studies to ensure maximum well life.
• Supervises on-site execution of all Project related Deepwater Subsea and dry-tree drilling operations.
• Has line approval for all Project related Deepwater Subsea and dry-tree wells procedures.
• Responsible for organising and conducting all Project related DWOP (Drill Well on Paper) meetings.
• Presents "lessons learned" and recommendations to the Specific Field Team, Deepwater Business Unit and Operations Services managers.
• Participates in industry seminars and workshops to ensure best-in-class knowledge exchange.
• Provides drilling engineering support to other company business unit activities as required.
• Responsible for maintaining required safety training and compliance.
• Provides technical guidance and development to others in discipline.
• All other duties assigned by supervisor.
Candidate Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline and significant experience in Deepwater Subsea drilling and project planning operations.
• Proficient understanding of drilling, Deepwater Subsea and dry-tree wells, workover and production of oil and gas wells.
• Ability to organise, prioritise and make decisions under time restrictions.
