Senior HPHT Drilling Engineer


Job Outline

The Senior HPHT Drilling Engineer will work in a small drilling team to support the operator's drilling operations, based in Aberdeen. They will report to the Drilling Engineering Team Leader.

Responsibilities include:
• Design and engineer HPHT exploration, appraisal and development wells.
• Peer review and input into the HPHT operations for overseas operations.
• Assist with the development of HPHT drilling procedures & standards.
• Actively participate in promotion of HS&E initiatives.
• Also conduct well design fo r development drilling activity in the UK. These wells are typically horizontal subsea development wells.
• Liaise with subsurface and petroleum engineering groups to meet their objectives in a safe and efficient manner.
• Preparation of scopes of work for tenders and evaluation of tenders
• Preparation of well cost estimates.
• Operations support during drilling activity.
• Preparing and conducting pre-spud meetings.
• Preparation of drilling programmes and "End of Well Reports".


Experience Required

The candidate should:
• Ability to work independently, with small measure of supervision.
• Have a safety orientated culture.
• Experience with North Sea, HPHT drilling planning, design and operations of both exploration and appraisal wells and all the issues involved.
• Experience with HPHT development well and field development planning, design issues and operations would be a definite advantage.
• Knowledge of "IP17 HPHT Well planning & Operations Guidelines", Volumes 1, 2 and 3 and all the issues contained within.
• Ability to carry out HPHT casing design - including hands-on Wellcat modelling and all the issues involved.
• Experience in general well planning and operations in the North Sea.
• Experience of tendering for well services in the UK.
• Experience in semi-submersible and jack-up drilling operations.
• Knowledge of UK regulatory requirements related to well design and operations offshore.
• Excellent English language communication skills.
